Venice Beach hosted MVP MMA 1’s public workouts Wednesday, with Ronda Rousey, Gina Carano, Francis Ngannou and Nate Diaz appearing ahead of Saturday’s debut card at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome.
MVP Promotions, led by Jake Paul, is using unusual star power for a first MMA event: Rousey and Carano are returning from retirement, Ngannou was lured from the PFL, and Diaz is fighting outside the UFC again against Mike Perry.
Rousey said her goal is to make Saturday the most-watched MMA event ever, aiming for more than 9 million views on Netflix.
The launch arrives after 2025’s Global Fight League collapsed despite backing from hundreds of fighters, giving MVP’s first show added scrutiny as a possible challenger to the UFC’s grip on MMA.

Is this a nostalgic cash grab, or can aging stars launch a fighter-first revolution?
