UKMTO said a ship was boarded by “unauthorized personnel” 38 nautical miles northeast of Fujairah early Thursday and was then tracked heading toward Iranian territorial waters.
BBC and risk firm Vanguard identified the vessel as the Honduras-flagged Hui Chuan, whose operators said it worked as a floating armory supplying weapons to security teams protecting ships from pirates.
The seizure came near the Strait of Hormuz as Trump and Xi met in Beijing with the waterway among the issues under discussion.
At least two other ships have been seized in the strait since February, including the Panamanian-flagged MSC Francesca and Epaminondes taken by Iran's IRGC in April.
