More than 10,000 phishing websites tied to stolen-phone operations were identified by Infoblox, which says dozens of groups sell pay-per-use tools on Telegram and the wider web to unlock and wipe iPhones.
Traffic to those domains jumped 350% last year as criminals chased the much higher resale value of unlocked devices—typically $500 to $1,000 versus $50 to $200 for locked phones.
Three common features ran across the services: jailbreak-style tools to pull owner data, "Find My iPhone Off" phishing kits to capture Apple account credentials, and scripts or AI voice software to run the scams.
Infoblox began tracing the network after a stolen-phone victim in Asia received a fake Apple Find My message; researchers say the tools wipe devices once access is gained, while Telegram removed several linked groups after being contacted.
The findings add detail to a broader rise in phone thefts—about 80,000 devices were stolen in London in one year—even as Apple has hardened iPhone security and added Stolen Device Protection.
