145 applicants were hired on the spot at Lapu-Lapu City’s 10th job fair of 2026, held May 14 at the Mahi Center and aimed at fresh graduates and first-time job seekers.
28 employers offered 1,421 vacancies, drawing 1,102 registrants by 3:30 p.m.; Peso said the venue’s location near the Mactan Economic Processing Zone helped drive the turnout.
Most applicants were 18 to 25, and the openings spanned hotels, hospitality, malls and supermarkets, with Peso saying younger job seekers often match entry-level roles more quickly.
The city has expanded recruitment drives from a quarterly target to as many as three job fairs a month, using the events to ease local unemployment and speed residents into work.
