Eneos Tanker Carries 1.9 Million Barrels Through Hormuz as Japan Presses Iran for More Passages

An Eneos-managed tanker carrying 1.9 million barrels of Kuwait and UAE crude cleared the Strait of Hormuz, the second Japan-linked oil ship to do so since the waterway was disrupted.
The Panama-flagged ship has four Japanese crew members and is expected to reach Japan in late May or early June, while 39 Japan-related vessels remain stuck in the Gulf.
Japan had sourced about 95% of its oil imports from the Gulf before the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran disrupted flows, pushing refiners to draw stockpiles and seek supplies from the U.S. and Caspian region.
Refinery runs in Japan have climbed back above 70% for the first time since late March, but Tokyo says it will keep pressing diplomatically to secure Hormuz passage for remaining vessels.
