British military monitors said unauthorized personnel seized a vessel anchored 38 nautical miles northeast of Fujairah and it was moving toward Iranian waters.
UKMTO did not identify the ship or assign blame, but the incident hit a sensitive stretch near the Strait of Hormuz and Fujairah, the UAE’s main port outside the Persian Gulf.
The seizure follows repeated attacks around Fujairah during the Iran war and comes a week after Iran said it took the tanker Ocean Koi in the Gulf of Oman.
The latest disruption adds to pressure on oil and trade routes as Donald Trump and Xi Jinping meet in Beijing with the Iran war expected to dominate talks.
