Huawei introduced the MatePad Pro Max as a 13.2-inch flagship tablet, saying it is the thinnest and lightest model in the 13-inch-plus class at 4.7mm and 499g.
The design uses a centralized mainboard to free up space for cooling and speakers, helping deliver 20% higher performance and 30% better heat dissipation than the previous generation.
A 3K flexible OLED display with PaperMatte coating, six-speaker audio and a notch-free 12 MP front camera are aimed at media use and drawing, while a 50 MP rear camera adds Huawei's True-to-Color system.
Huawei also pitched the tablet as a productivity device, with AI writing and presentation tools, split-screen multitasking for up to three apps, multi-device file syncing and a keyboard with stylus storage.
The launch comes as Huawei remains constrained by U.S. sanctions on advanced chips, making thermal design, battery life and software features central to its premium-device pitch.
Without Google's apps, can Huawei's new tablet build an ecosystem to truly challenge the iPad's global dominance?
As powerful on-device AI becomes standard, how will it fundamentally change our daily interactions with personal tablets?
