Ford heads to the Nürburgring 24 aiming for its first overall victory in nearly 40 years, with Frédéric Vervisch saying recent Nordschleife form and HRT preparation have built real momentum.
Vervisch’s 6:15.977 lap in a Ford GT Mk IV — the fastest ever by an American OEM and third quickest overall on the Nordschleife — was followed by Dirk Mueller’s 6:40.835 class-record run in the Mustang GTD.
No. 64 Mustang GT3 will be driven by Vervisch, three-time winner Christopher Mies and Dennis Olsen, reuniting the trio that delivered the car’s breakthrough 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona victory.
HRT’s Nürburgring-specific experience is central to Ford’s bid, Vervisch said, citing unusual fueling rules, weather management and the team’s learning curve since the Mustang GT3’s Nordschleife debut last year.
Competition is expected to be tougher than in 2025, but Ford arrives with added confidence after an NLS podium and Mies and Vervisch’s recent GTD Pro win at Laguna Seca.
