A live CBS Evening News segment from Taipei ended abruptly Wednesday when anchor Tony Dokoupil stopped the broadcast after a cameraman suffered a medical emergency on set.
CBS later said on X that the cameraman was okay and recovering after Dokoupil called for a break and a doctor during the interrupted segment.
Dokoupil was broadcasting from Taiwan, not Beijing, because he reportedly failed to secure a Chinese visa in time for President Donald Trump's summit with Xi Jinping.
CBS said the Taipei location underscored Taiwan's importance ahead of Thursday's Trump-Xi talks, where trade, Iran and Taiwan are expected to be on the agenda.
