May 12 search teams in Morocco found and recovered the remains of Spc. Mariyah Collington, 19, at a rocky cliff site in the Cap Draa area, ending an 11-day search after she went missing on May 2.
Morocco's Royal Armed Forces said the operation was carried out with U.S. forces, and AFRICOM confirmed the identification of Collington, an air and missile defense crewmember.
Collington and 1st Lt. Kendrick Lamont Key Jr. disappeared near Tan Tan during African Lion exercises after falling from a cliff on an off-duty recreational hike, according to an Associated Press report.
Key's remains were recovered from the Atlantic Ocean on Sunday, after U.S., Moroccan and partner forces deployed ground, air and maritime assets in a coordinated search for both soldiers.
