Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro lineup, due in the second half of 2026, will use LTPO+ OLED panels supplied only by Samsung Display and LG Display.
BOE lost out after failing Apple’s quality and production-capacity requirements for LTPO+ panels, widening the South Korean makers’ edge in Apple’s premium display supply chain.
LTPO+ improves on the iPhone 17’s LTPO screens by applying oxide material to both switching and driving TFTs, boosting power efficiency and enabling more precise current control with variable refresh rates.
Samsung Display is expected to ship about 146 million OLED panels to Apple and LG Display more than 82 million, while Samsung plans to raise capacity by 10% to 15% in late 2025.
BOE will still supply OLED panels for older and lower-end iPhones, but Apple’s broader shift to LTPO displays has exposed its difficulty matching the volume needed for top-tier models.
With the tech gap widening, can China's BOE ever break South Korea's grip on Apple's premium iPhone displays?
Why did Apple choose better battery life over a brighter screen for its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro?
