Notion Launches AI Agent Platform as 1 Million Custom Agents Hit Limits

Notion on Wednesday rolled out a developer platform that lets teams build multi-step AI workflows, connect external agents and pull live data from outside databases into Notion.
The move addresses gaps in the Custom Agents Notion launched in February: customers built more than 1 million of them, but they could not access external data, use custom logic or connect cleanly with outside agents.
Workers — Notion’s cloud sandbox for custom code — let customers deploy logic, trigger webhooks and sync data from API-based sources such as Salesforce, Zendesk and Postgres without running their own infrastructure.
The platform also adds an External Agent API and support at launch for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Decagon, allowing users to assign work to outside agents and track them inside Notion.
Available through Notion’s CLI on Business and Enterprise plans, the launch pushes Notion beyond note-taking toward a programmable workflow and AI orchestration platform; Workers are free through August.
