William Paul said on X he “had too much to drink,” apologized for remarks that “don’t represent who I really am,” and said he is seeking help for a drinking problem after confronting Rep. Mike Lawler Tuesday night.
At a Capitol Hill bar, Paul interrupted Lawler over Rep. Thomas Massie’s Kentucky primary and blamed “you Jews” for any Massie loss, then continued attacking Jews as “anti-American” and overly loyal to Israel.
Lawler repeatedly told Paul he was being antisemitic and tried to end the exchange; Paul then shoved a finger in his face, flipped him off, paid his tab and stumbled out after tripping over a barstool.
The clash tied into a Trump-backed challenge to Massie and outside spending from Jewish GOP donor Paul Singer, whom Paul singled out; Sen. Rand Paul’s office, Massie and Singer did not comment.
