Falling debris from an intercepted drone sparked a fire at the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant, a major facility about 50 kilometers north of Astrakhan, with officials saying no injuries were reported and residents were not at risk.
Igor Babushkin, the regional governor, said Russian air defenses or electronic warfare systems neutralized all incoming drones and the Emergency Situations Ministry expected the blaze to be extinguished within several hours.
Overnight attacks also hit other Russian industrial sites: a drone strike set an industrial facility ablaze in Volna in Krasnodar region, injuring at least one person, while debris fell on a Yaroslavl region industrial site without reported casualties.
Russia's Defense Ministry said it intercepted 286 drones across more than a dozen regions and annexed Crimea, while Ukrainian authorities said Russia launched 139 drones at Ukraine overnight.
