An inadvertently posted video showed Bob Brooks and Pete Buttigieg being coached on how to frame the 2026 midterms, with staff urging them to stress affordability, working people and voters who felt "left behind."
The clip, filmed by Democratic campaign group The Bench, also captured efforts to stage a more natural appearance — including guidance on beer-can props and a joke about having "a really normal conversation with three cameras."
Pete Buttigieg asked staff to remind him which district he was in before the interview, while aides said they would stay "mostly hands off" but still interject if needed to keep the conversation on message.
Brooks enters a tight 4-way Democratic primary next week with backing from Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders and Governor Josh Shapiro as he seeks to challenge Republican Representative Ryan Mackenzie.
