Apple is building a new App Store framework to permit AI agent and AI coding apps without weakening its security and privacy rules, after existing policies failed to accommodate software that can generate mini-apps or change functionality.
In March, Apple blocked updates to some popular vibe-coding apps because App Store rules bar apps from executing code that alters themselves or other apps, highlighting the clash between current policy and fast-growing AI tools.
iOS 27 will also bring a major Siri revamp, with Apple using custom Google Gemini models and asking developers to connect actions such as flight booking and calendar invites to Siri and Apple Intelligence.
Some developers and Chinese partners including Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent are wary that Siri integration could later carry App Store-style commissions, even though Apple has said it does not plan to charge fees early on.
June 8 at WWDC is expected to be the next key milestone, when Apple may outline both the Siri upgrade and how it plans to open the App Store to agentic AI apps.
