42-Inch Water Main Burst Keeps 4 Oakland County Communities Under Boil Advisory

Four Oakland County communities—Orion Township, Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills and Oakland Township—remain under a boil water advisory after a 42-inch main burst on May 10.
GLWA replaced the pipe on May 11, but system flushing is expected to last until Thursday and water testing may not finish until Sunday or Monday next week.
Residents in Orion Township, Lake Orion, Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills are also barred from nonessential water use, including watering lawns, washing cars, running dishwashers and using washing machines.
Officials say tap water should be boiled before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice or giving it to pets, while showers and laundry are generally still allowed if water use is limited.
