Brigitte Macron’s representatives said she “categorically denied” claims that she slapped Emmanuel Macron on a presidential plane after seeing a message to an Iranian actress.
Florian Tardif, a French journalist, tied the alleged row to a book and RTL interview, saying Macron had a months-long “platonic” relationship with the actress and sent a text reading, “I find you very pretty.”
The Elysee had previously brushed off the viral plane footage as the couple “having a laugh” before a Vietnam trip, though Tardif said officials later regretted downplaying it.
Donald Trump revived the episode earlier this year with a White House joke about Macron being hit “right to the jaw,” prompting Macron to call the remarks below standard and drawing criticism in France.
