A leaked Android 17 build shows Google testing deeper Pixel theming, including a manual accent-color picker inside Wallpaper & style instead of today’s wallpaper-driven preset palettes.
Four intensity presets—Neutral, Soft, Bright and Bold—also appear in the leak, with real-time previews showing how colors would change across icons, buttons, menus and quick settings.
The upgrade would answer long-running Pixel user demands for finer Material You control since the design system debuted with Android 12, while the same leak also points to added UI blur effects.
Current Android 17 builds still lack the tools, so the feature may miss the initial stable release and arrive later in a quarterly update such as Android 17 QPR1.
