Disney+ told fans it is working on a fix for The Punisher: One Last Kill after viewers complained Wednesday that dialogue was too low and surround channels sounded misrouted.
One stunt shot drew separate backlash because Jon Bernthal appeared unnaturally animated when Frank Castle was thrown from a building onto a silver crate.
A source close to the production said the fall was largely filmed in camera: Bernthal performed the start, a stuntman handled the impact, and VFX replaced the stuntman’s face.
Despite the technical complaints, the special has otherwise reviewed well, holding an 86% Rotten Tomatoes critics score and a 91% audience score after its Tuesday Disney+ release.
The episode continues the character’s story from the 2017 Punisher series and Daredevil: Born Again, with Bernthal next set to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
