Pitcairn authorities said a woman from the MV Hondius is isolating on the island after contact with a hantavirus-exposed person, though she has shown no symptoms and officials say public risk is low.
UK health guidance treats all close contacts from the ship as requiring 45 days of isolation, and London said it is coordinating with Pitcairn officials and the UK Health Security Agency to manage risks.
French Polynesia said the woman flew from San Francisco on 7 May via Tahiti and Mangareva without notifying authorities, then barred her from re-entering while any risk remains.
The Hondius outbreak has killed 3 people and produced 9 confirmed cases, with WHO saying there is no sign yet of a wider outbreak but warning more cases could still emerge.
The case is especially sensitive on Pitcairn, a British territory with about 50 residents, as health officials monitor whether the ship-linked Andes strain spreads beyond passengers.
