$1.25 million in pre-seed funding backed Poppy’s launch of an AI assistant app that pulls calendar, email, messages and location into one dashboard and widget view.
Poppy uses that data to surface what matters now and make proactive suggestions, such as fitting in a walk during a 30-minute gap, tracking flights or reminding users to take medication.
At launch, the app connects with Apple and Google calendars, Gmail, Outlook, iCloud Mail, Apple Health, Reminders, Contacts, iMessage, WhatsApp, Uber and Instacart, though its Mac-based iMessage access could face Apple restrictions.
The San Francisco startup has a team of four led by former Humane engineer Sai Kambampati, who says the longer-term goal is to move from cloud LLMs to on-device AI within two to three years.
