Amazon Rules Out Another Phone, Eyes New Computing Hub Over the Next 10 Years

Panos Panay said Amazon will not launch “another phone,” arguing there is “no clear path” into the conventional smartphone market despite rumors around the “Transformer” project.
Instead, he framed Amazon’s device work around new form factors that could become a broader computing hub, saying the phone category itself will keep transforming over the next 10 years.
That stance leaves room for products that work alongside existing smartphones first, rather than directly trying to replace the iPhone or other handsets from Apple, Samsung or Google.
