Peter Jackson Confirms New Tintin Film, Completing Script After 12 Years Away

Cannes masterclass remarks revealed Peter Jackson has finished the script for a new “Adventures of Tintin” film and plans to direct it himself.
The project would mark Jackson’s first narrative feature since 2014’s “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” ending more than 12 years without directing a fiction film.
Jackson said he worked on the screenplay in his hotel room during the festival, where he received an honorary Palme d’Or the night before.
The sequel revives a project Steven Spielberg had flagged in 2018 as Jackson’s next “Tintin” outing after the 2011 original, which underperformed in the U.S. but was a major hit in France.
Jackson has said the death of longtime cinematographer Andrew Lesnie helped keep him from returning to features, while he also chose not to direct “The Hunt for Gollum,” leaving that film to Andy Serkis.
