People's Forum Buys Manhattan Building for $5.15 Million, Seeks Another $5 Million for Renovations

$5.15 million bought the People's Forum a three-story building at 137 W. 14th Street in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, property records show, giving the nonprofit a planned permanent headquarters after a December 2024 purchase.
$5 million more is now being sought to renovate what the group called "just a shell," with a new push for $2 million from individual donors by December 2026; its website says about $570,000 has been raised so far.
City records show active elevator and boiler violations and about $20,000 in civil penalties, while the property had sold for roughly $4.3 million in 2022, underscoring the scale of repairs after the higher-priced purchase.
Congress and federal agencies are already scrutinizing Neville Roy Singham's network, which Fox reported has funneled $285 million into aligned nonprofits since 2017, including $22.5 million to the People's Forum.
The group says it serves as a hub for more than 200 organizations and has trained over 40,000 people, framing the building as infrastructure for expanding its U.S. organizing reach amid that federal probe.
