  • MV Hebrides is due back on the Little Minch on Wednesday afternoon, letting CalMac restore planned service levels by week’s end on Coll, Colonsay, Mull, South Uist and Tiree.
  • Engineers fixed a leak in the ferry’s bow visor, ending a key part of the disruption that had hit CalMac’s west coast network for weeks.
  • 10 of CalMac’s 32 vessels were out of action at one point in April because of technical faults, annual overhauls or crewing issues, turning the ferry problems into a Scottish election campaign issue.
  • Two more major vessels are still due back this month — MV Isle of Lewis after a 3-month dry-dock extension and MV Finlaggan — which should further strengthen network resilience.
