52% of Chalinze Council’s 2.2bn/- international-standard stadium in Msoga has been completed, with 1.2bn/- already spent from the council’s own funds.
Construction began in October and is now focused on the first phase, including the main stands around the football ground, while the contractor said the 8,000-seat venue is on track for completion by August.
Coast regional officials said the project is meant to raise sports standards and create jobs for young people, while also nurturing talent in Bagamoyo District.
Phase two is planned to add volleyball, netball and basketball facilities, plus a sports academy and hostels, broadening the site into a larger sports complex with tourism potential.
