Spain said its heavier use of renewable energy has kept electricity prices stable even as the Middle East war pushes up oil and gas costs.
Sara Aagesen, Spain’s minister for environmental transition, said solar and wind capacity has expanded 150% since 2018, giving the power system a larger buffer against fossil-fuel price swings.
Aagesen made the remarks in Cyprus ahead of an informal meeting of EU energy ministers, placing Spain’s energy mix in the wider debate over Europe’s exposure to imported fuel shocks.
