Kyoto police arrested a 27-year-old unemployed man on May 12 on suspicion of obstructing business after he allegedly threatened to blow up Nintendo’s headquarters.
Envelopes sent to Nintendo included messages such as “I’m going to blow you all up” and claims that he had already planted multiple bombs, prompting a police search.
March 16 reports from Nintendo led officers to inspect the area, but they found nothing suspicious; the suspect has since admitted to the allegations.
Police have not identified a motive and are still investigating, in a case that echoes earlier threats that forced Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo to be canceled.
