Four teams remain in contention to visit Seattle for the Seahawks' Sept. 9 season opener: the Cardinals, Chargers, Bears and Patriots.
Five other home opponents were ruled out by schedule placements already set elsewhere — the 49ers and Rams in Australia on Sept. 10, the Cowboys and Giants on Sunday night Sept. 13, and the Chiefs hosting Denver on Monday Sept. 14.
Seattle had opened with nine possible Week 1 home opponents after winning Super Bowl LX, since NFC teams get nine home games this season.
The final matchup for the banner-raising opener could be revealed when the NFL releases the schedule Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, with a Super Bowl rematch still possible if New England is chosen.
