ESPN analyst Jay Williams said Austin Reaves was “targeted every damn possession” in the Lakers’ second-round exit, arguing Los Angeles should prioritize LeBron James over Reaves this offseason.
The criticism followed Oklahoma City’s 115-110 Game 4 win Monday, which completed a sweep and ended the Lakers’ playoff run.
Williams said Reaves’ offense was outweighed by defensive issues, especially if the Lakers plan to keep building around Luka Doncic, whose own defensive limitations already strain roster construction.
Reaves, 27, returned from a Grade 2 left oblique strain for the playoffs and is expected to decline his player option to become an unrestricted free agent; James is also set for free agency.
