Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 7 adds a Friends List and peer-to-peer world joining to Java Edition, letting players invite friends into single-player worlds without setting up a server.
The new system ties multiplayer to a Friends tab that shows whether contacts are offline, online, in a world or in a joinable world, and supports friend requests by profile name.
Java players previously relied on LAN play, third-party servers or Minecraft Realms for private multiplayer, so the snapshot closes one of the biggest feature gaps with Bedrock Edition.
The features arrive ahead of the full 26.2 update due in Q2 2026, when Mojang is also testing Vulkan support as part of a broader push to modernize Java.
