Instagram Adds Ultra HDR and Night Sight on Android, Launches Tablet App Ahead of Android 17

Instagram is upgrading its Android app with Ultra HDR support in the in-app camera, plus Night Sight and video stabilization for photos and videos.
Android 14 introduced Ultra HDR in 2023, and Meta says the update should make Instagram captures look closer to native camera output while improving long-criticized HDR upload handling.
Google said Instagram has optimized its capture-to-upload pipeline so posts stay sharp, and its AI-based tests found video from Android flagships matched or beat the leading competitor.
Meta is also releasing an Instagram app optimized for Android tablets and adding Android-specific Edits features including AI upscaling and sound separation.
The announcements came during Google's Android Show ahead of I/O, with Android 17 expected to roll out later this year.
