Kuwait on Tuesday summoned Iran's ambassador and delivered a formal protest after six men linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps tried to reach Bubiyan Island by sea.
Kuwaiti authorities said four suspects were arrested after clashes with security forces and two escaped; the detainees allegedly confessed to IRGC ties and said they used a rented fishing boat for hostile acts.
Deputy Foreign Minister Hamad Suleiman Al-Meshaan handed Ambassador Mohammad Totonji the protest note, with Kuwait condemning the incident as a hostile act on its eastern border.
The confrontation comes as Gulf states remain on edge after repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks during the U.S.-Israel war with Iran, despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 8.
