Elea Completes First Phase of Petrobras' $470 Million Data Center Under 17-Year Contract

2.3 billion reais ($470 million) into the project, Elea Data Centers finished the first phase of a Petrobras facility designed to support the oil producer’s computing needs.
A roughly 30-megawatt data center will host supercomputers that process scientific data used in Petrobras’s oil and natural gas operations, Elea founder Alessandro Lombardi said.
The buildout stems from a 17-year contract Elea won in September, giving the company a long-term role in Petrobras’s digital infrastructure.
The project highlights rising cloud-computing demand in Brazil, Latin America’s largest economy, as energy and other sectors expand data-intensive operations.
