$162 million in domestic ticket sales made the weekend the third-best of 2026 and the strongest broad-based frame in nearly eight years, with three films each clearing $35 million.
"The Devil Wears Prada 2" led with $43 million in its second weekend, down 44%, while "Mortal Kombat II" opened at $40 million and "Michael" added $36.5 million in weekend three.
Those results extended strong runs across the market: "Prada 2" reached $433 million worldwide, "Michael" hit $577 million, and holdovers "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" and "Project Hail Mary" still topped $6 million each.
The depth thinned below the top three, with "The Sheep Detectives" opening to $15.9 million against a $75 million budget and Billie Eilish's 3D concert film debuting at $7.5 million.
Year-to-date domestic box office is now running 16% above 2025, putting North America on pace for about $10.3 billion and signaling a more normal summer release pattern.
