Rickshaw Bomb Kills 9 in Pakistan Market, Wounding 30 Near Afghan Border

Sarai Naurang's market in Lakki Marwat was hit Tuesday by a bomb-laden rickshaw, killing at least nine people — including two traffic police and a woman — and wounding about 30.
37 patients reached THQ Hospital, medical superintendent Mohammad Ishaq said, with some in critical condition; Rescue 1122 moved the most seriously injured to hospitals in nearby Bannu.
No group immediately claimed the blast, which came days after 21 police officers were killed in a bombing and gun assault on a security post in neighboring Bannu.
Pakistan blamed the Pakistan Taliban, or TTP, for that earlier assault, but Afghanistan's Taliban government rejected Islamabad's claim that the attack was planned from Afghan soil.
The bombing adds to a broader rise in violence near the frontier since the Afghan Taliban returned to power, despite China-mediated talks in April that lowered but did not end cross-border clashes.
