Christian Svensson, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s VP for second- and third-party content, said PlayStation’s upcoming slate is “unbelievably positive” and that he sees no “dire times” ahead for the games industry.
A 3-to-5-year view of titles in development underpins that optimism, he said, arguing publishers and developers are making smart decisions even as layoffs, studio closures and weaker player spending dominate headlines.
Svensson said the bigger challenge is not a lack of games but reaching players across more devices and audience segments than ever, with today’s strategic choices taking years to show up in released products.
The upbeat message contrasts with PlayStation’s own recent warnings: studios chief Hermen Hulst cited rising costs and slower growth when Bluepoint was closed, and Sony raised PS5 prices globally by at least $100 in March.
