One month before kickoff, U.S. captain Tyler Adams said the 2026 FIFA World Cup can give people a rare moment of unity and positivity despite global turmoil.
Adams spoke as conflict involving the U.S. and Iran shadows a tournament both nations qualified for; FIFA president Gianni Infantino said Iran will "for sure" still play.
June 12 is when the United States opens Group D against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, with Iran scheduled at the same venue three days later.
Adams, who played in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, said a more experienced U.S. squad and home support could help the team advance from the group and make a deeper run.
Separately, Adams highlighted Scotts' youth-sports initiative, which has funded more than $432,000 and helped over 2,000 kids across 48 states gain access to sports and green space.
