Jack Carr said he chose Chris Pratt as his ideal James Reece in December 2014, years before "The Terminal List" became a bestseller or reached television.
Pratt's turn as a Navy SEAL in 2012's "Zero Dark Thirty" convinced Carr he could move beyond his "Parks and Rec" comic image and carry a darker lead role.
Carr was still about 18 months from leaving the military when he began writing the novel, which was published in 2018 and adapted by Prime Video in 2022 with Pratt starring.
The reveal comes ahead of season two of "The Terminal List," which is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 21.
