Federal prosecutors on Tuesday unsealed an 18-count indictment against Synergy Marine and related operators of the Dali, more than two years after the ship struck Baltimore’s Key Bridge and killed six workers.
The charges include obstruction, misconduct of officers resulting in death and conspiracy to defraud the government, tied to the vessel crash that also shut one of the nation’s busiest ports.
Prosecutors have alleged the Dali suffered power blackouts before the March 26, 2024 collision and that operators falsified safety records and misled investigators about the ship’s systems.
Synergy said it would fight the case, after the Justice Department had already pursued civil claims and reached a roughly $102 million settlement.
