Spotify said an Android-app bug is making Chromecast, Chromecast Audio and Nest speakers vanish from Spotify Connect, leaving some users with a blank device list.
Two older Android builds — 9.1.40.1486 and 9.1.42.1107 — have emerged as the only reliable workaround, restoring full Cast support when users roll back the app.
Other services including Tidal, YouTube Music and Plex still detect the same Cast devices normally, pointing to Spotify rather than home networks or Google hardware.
Reports date back to 2024 but have surged recently; Spotify says the issue is being looked into, with no timeline yet for a permanent fix.
