Barry Keoghan will make his third Cannes appearance with Kantemir Balagov’s “Butterfly Jam,” which opens the Directors’ Fortnight competition and stars Keoghan and Riley Keough as siblings running a struggling Newark diner.
2019’s “Beanpole” helped set the project in motion: Keoghan said he messaged Balagov after seeing the film, and the two stayed in touch before teaming on “Butterfly Jam.”
