January footage from DevDroid showed three Russian soldiers surrendering to a TW-7.62 ground robot, one of several cases the Ukrainian manufacturer says has now occurred.
Ground robots let Ukrainian forces handle surrenders from farther away, reducing the risk that approaching troops could be attacked or hit by a grenade from soldiers pretending to give up.
Zelenskyy said in April Ukraine had for the first time captured a Russian position using only aerial drones and ground robots, with no infantry involved and no Ukrainian losses.
Ukraine is rapidly expanding battlefield robotics beyond combat to evacuation, resupply and mine work; Zelenskyy has ordered at least 50,000 ground robots this year, while officials aim for 100% robotic front-line logistics.
