GitLab shares fell 8% after CEO Bill Staples laid out a restructuring tied to the company’s shift toward agentic AI, with workforce reductions, management cuts and a narrower geographic footprint.
Up to 30% fewer countries will host operations, as GitLab also plans to remove as many as three management layers and reorganize research and development into about 60 smaller teams.
Internal processes will expand use of agentic AI, but GitLab did not disclose how many jobs will be cut or the financial impact of the overhaul.
June 2 is the next key date: the company said it will provide more detail on the restructuring when it reports earnings.
