Panettiere, 36, said on Jay Shetty’s May 11 podcast that a trusted person led her onto a boat at 18 and physically put her in bed beside an undressed, “very famous” older man.
She said the situation turned “shocking” once she realized she was in danger and effectively trapped at sea, with no easy way to leave and no one likely to help.
Panettiere described fleeing the room and hiding elsewhere on the boat, saying she went into “survival mode” and refused to comply.
The account comes as she promotes her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” in which she reflects on vulnerability, betrayal and trauma; the book is due May 19.
