More than 2,000 Austin Energy customers were still without power by 11 a.m. Monday after severe storms swept the area Sunday night.
The outages peaked at about 17,000 customers around 10:10 p.m., up from roughly 4,600 at 9:45 p.m., before crews reduced the total overnight.
Austin Energy said all available crews were responding across its service area, prioritizing outages affecting the largest number of customers first.
The utility warned some repairs could take hours while restoring only small pockets of customers at a time, and it had not given a timeline for full restoration.
Austin Energy urged residents to report downed lines to 512-322-9100 and call 911 if a line is sparking.
