Twenty-two people aged 12 to 21 were taken into custody after a Friday night gathering at Curtis Hixon Park spiraled into fights and major disruptions; only four arrestees were adults.
Tampa police said the viral teen takeover escalated into disorder that put others at risk, prompting officers to rush in and deploy air patrols to track the crowd.
Charges included affray, narcotics possession, resisting without violence and unlawful weapon possession, and officers also seized one vehicle from the scene.
Chief Lee Bercaw said the city would not tolerate the behavior and urged parents to know where their children are, warning the arrests could carry lasting consequences.
