Adrian Peterson was surprised at Vikings rookie minicamp with news that he will enter Minnesota’s Ring of Honor in 2026, an honor he called “really, really special.”
The Vikings tied the induction to Peterson’s 10-season run in Minnesota, highlighted by his 2012 NFL MVP award and 2,097 rushing yards—still the closest anyone has come to Eric Dickerson’s record.
Peterson finished his Vikings career with 11,747 rushing yards and 97 rushing touchdowns, earning seven Pro Bowls and seven AP All-Pro selections while becoming one of the franchise’s defining players.
Owner Mark Wilf said Peterson was a transformational player from the moment Minnesota drafted him No. 7 overall in 2007, adding that the team expects a future Pro Football Hall of Fame induction as well.
The 2026 honor will place Peterson’s name permanently at U.S. Bank Stadium alongside Vikings greats including John Randle, Randy Moss and Fran Tarkenton.
