Treasury on Monday blacklisted 12 Iranian-linked individuals and entities tied to the IRGC’s oil sales to China, days before President Trump’s planned China visit.
The designations target what Treasury called IRGC cover companies in Iran, Hong Kong and Dubai that moved millions of dollars of Iranian oil through a shadow fleet, including a tanker the U.S. seized in December.
Treasury said the sanctions are meant to cut Tehran off from financial networks used to buy restricted goods and fund terrorist proxies, with civil or criminal penalties for violators.
The move extends Trump’s “maximum pressure” campaign on Iran and follows earlier U.S. sanctions on China-based firms accused of helping Iran’s missile and drone programs—measures Beijing denounced as unilateral.
